NSP Scholarship Biometric Authentication: Complete Process

This decision was made after the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) conducted a physical verification of institutes and beneficiaries and found various discrepancies in the authenticity of the beneficiaries and institutes.

All parties involved in the scholarship application process, including the State Nodal Officer (SNO), District Nodal Officer (DNO), Head of Institute (HoI), Institute Nodal Officer (INO), and applicants, must update their Aadhaar information in the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) by August 20, 2023. To complete the biometric authentication process for your scholarship application at the CSC center, please bring your NSP account details, including your Aadhaar card, application ID, username, and password.

Step-by-Step Procedure of NSP Biometric Authentication for Applicants

The Common Service Centre (CSC) VLE will conduct camps in the institutions to perform the biometric authentication of the re-validated applicants. Applicants will need to report to the CSC VLE along with their Aadhaar number and NSP user ID for biometric authentication.

Through the NSP biometric authentication tool, the CSC VLE will verify the information supplied by the applicant. The applicant’s details will be returned to the NSP-BA utility and shown for confirmation if the information matches a record in the NSP database. The applicant will subsequently be captured in a live shot by the CSC VLE.

After a successful validation, the CSC VLE will perform the biometric authentication for the applicant. The biometric data will be stored in the CSC database and the NSP portal will be updated with the success or failure of the biometric authentication, along with other transaction details.

Step-by-Step Procedure for Applicants’ Re-validation by INOs/DNOs

Only applications that have successfully undergone biometric authentication will be made available for revalidation in the INO logins. Revalidation will only be available if the bio-auth of the HoI and INO of that institute is also successful.

Students whose applications are returned to their INOs for revalidation will also receive an SMS notification.

If the INO does not revalidate the application by the last cut-off date for INOs, the application will be escalated to the SNO’s/DNO’s login for revalidation.

After the application has been revalidated by an L1 or L2 officer, it will be listed as either “Accepted” or “Rejected.” There will be no further opportunities for revalidation.
